CARE FOR YOUR PINE FURNITURE

First, some background on PINE WOOD. Pine is a naturally soft wood which continues to "breathe", based upon changes in the local (home, office, store, etc.) humidity and temperature. On the individual furniture piece there may be slight defects, such as knots, and shakes(small cracks in the surface of the wood). Some minor shrinkage may sometimes occur. These natural irregularities in pine enhance its overall uniqueness.

The "hand rubbed wax finish", which is found on all the Antiques is easy to care for and requires some regular attention. At least monthly a light coat of clear spray wax should be buffed onto the most exposed surfaces. If, from normal everyday usage the surface becomes scratched or lighter in color you will need to apply a coat of hand rubbed "colored wax" to restore its original look. We suggest "BRIWAX" in either "light brown" or "rustic pine". This product is a natural wax which cleans, stains and polishes all in one step. It is available in small cans at both of our stores. For more information visit their website: www.briwax.com.

On our reproduction furniture in the both the painted and the wax, we finish coat with a clear polyurethane. This means care can be limited to an occasional light coat of spray wax buffed till dry.

Accidents occur with furniture & families and should your piece become deeply scratched or gouged just call us and we will suggest a course of action based on our experience.
